Health & Recovery

Connect wearables and health apps to see the full picture of your clients' wellbeing.

Connecting Apple Health or Google Health

Health platform sync is available on Growth plans and above. Once connected, the platform reads steps, heart rate, sleep, and workout activity from the device automatically.

Apple Health (iPhone / Apple Watch):

  1. Open the Kounisou mobile app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to HealthConnect.
  3. Tap Connect Apple Health and grant the requested permissions.
  4. Data begins syncing the next time you open the app.

Google Health Connect (Android / Wear OS):

  1. Ensure Google Health Connect is installed on your Android device.
  2. Open the Kounisou app → Health → Connect.
  3. Tap Connect Google Health and approve the data permissions.
  4. Data syncs automatically when you open the app.

Coaches can view synced health data for their clients under Client Detail → Health. Clients control which data types are shared.

Understanding Your Recovery Score

Recovery scores are available on Growth plans and above, and require a connected health platform. The score is calculated each morning and gives a 0–100 readiness indicator based on recent health data.

The score factors in signals such as:

  • Sleep duration and consistency
  • Resting heart rate relative to your personal baseline
  • Recent training load and intensity
  • Daily step and activity levels

A higher score indicates better readiness for a challenging session. A lower score suggests the body may benefit from a lighter day or deliberate recovery work. Coaches can see the day's recovery score on each client's overview card in the dashboard, making it easy to adjust session intensity before a client logs in.

GPS Run Tracking

Built-in GPS run tracking is available on Growth plans and above. Clients can start a tracked outdoor run from the mobile app without a separate running app.

To start a run:

  1. Open the mobile app → Run tab.
  2. Tap Start Run and allow location permissions when prompted.
  3. The app records distance, pace, elapsed time, and elevation in real time.
  4. Tap Finish to save the session.

Completed runs appear in the client's activity history and on the coach's dashboard. Route maps, split pace by kilometre or mile, and heart rate overlays (when available from a connected wearable) are shown in the run detail view.

Steps Tracking and Goals

When a health platform is connected, daily step counts are pulled in automatically. Steps are displayed on the client's home screen with a progress arc showing how close they are to their daily target.

To set or update a client's daily step goal:

  1. Open Client Detail → Health.
  2. Tap the edit icon next to Daily Steps Goal.
  3. Enter the target (e.g. 8,000 or 10,000) and save.

Weekly step totals and trends are shown on the client's health chart, making it easy to see whether non-exercise activity is consistent over time.

Syncing with Strava and Garmin

Strava and Garmin integrations are available on Pro plans and above. Once connected, activities recorded on those platforms are automatically imported into Kounisou — no duplicate logging required.

To connect an integration, go to Settings → Integrations and select Strava or Garmin. You will be redirected to that platform to authorise the connection. Once authorised, new activities sync within a few minutes of being recorded.

Imported activities appear in the client's workout history alongside manually logged sessions. The source of each activity (e.g. "via Strava" or "via Garmin") is labelled so there is no confusion about origin. See the Integrations guide for full setup instructions.
